Would you stick to Posterous.com?

Did you really like Posterous.com? Would you be an active blogger at posterous?

Let's see what you have to say. Please leave a comment ;o)

Update : Boy!! People are so lazy!! No one's ready to answer such a simple question!! Come on everyone. This info could help others (and you too) to decide whether to stick to posterous.com or move on.

Update 2: People are NOT lazy anymore. They are reading the posts, commenting on it
and I'm having fun reading the blogs of other commentors ;o)

I'll chip in my view :) I liked posterous because it's got a clean interface which really encourages one to read more. I'm sure it won't have users searching all over the blog to find where a blog post actually is!

There are a few short-comings and some unanswered questions (customization? ads? widgets? themes?) but whatever has been presented till now looks KKoooll ;o)

@Hoveida hey thats a nice question! Hmmm... besides archives are really important for a blog reader :) I however do not see any mention of 'Archives' yet. Lets wait and watch...

I would stick to posterous, if I could seamlessly syndicate the posts (media and all) onto my personal web site/blog at http://www.rickbreslin.com

Also, if posterous worked out a couple of the bugs/features (specifically, converting an emailed .mp4 file into an embedded .flv movie), then, I would definitely stick to this.

@Rick I hope the feature of posting to a different blog through posterous works fine. Will be trying that out myself tomorrow.

I sent a feedback asking for a 'Comments' column to be incorporated under the 'Manage' option along with the 'Views' and other options. That way you can get a nice summary of all the comments on each post. And may be new comments could be highlighted too ;o)

People occasionally ask me how the Posterous folks can offer this valuable public service for FREE. My answer offers no insight -- except that, as word spreads about it, Posterous.com is bound for posterity. Its advent has been a boon to my meager internet presence, and I once again profusely thank its originators and operators.

As a decidedly low-tech septuagenarian, I revel in Posterous's simplicity and ease of interface. Who knew!? --- LWB

Hello Nischal. I'm now blogging only on Posterous. Such an easy way to blog and share stuff. And I'm about to move my Typepad archives to Posterous.

I'll stick to posterous. I enjoy the simplicity, I'm trying to find my love for blogging again and posterous is certainly helping at the moment. I'd love a tagging feature though ( I think its on its way.)

We hope you guys will stick with posterous. Archive view and tagging is coming soon, as are a ton more features as fast as we can code them.

Thanks for your support.

The bad thing is that tagging I think it will be difficult with an email

Posterous has the potential, just a couple things will make it a mainstay in the Blogosphere...

1.) Categories
2.) Tagging
3.) Monetization

As others have said the simplicity of posterous has me coming back regularly. I've used other blog sites, built my own blog CMS, and used other CMSes in the past and I never seem to make more than 3-4 posts before I either forget about the thing or run out of stuff to say. Posterous doesn't make me feel like I really need to have something to say so I can post just to post. The minimalistic feel of the site makes it so that I'm happy giving people links to my posterous because the page looks like something that I would have designed myself.

@Larry W. Bryant I agree with you sir :) The simplicity of posterous just amazes me.

@MMartin moving from typepad to posterous!! Thats an achievement in itself for the posterous folks hard at work I guess ;o)

@felipov Trip blogs would be a breeze to maintain with posterous I guess :)

@john ya, posterous seems to be one platform that even the lazy ones won't shy away from :P

@Felipov private blog huh! Is there an option right now to keep the blog private?

@Ben Williams Yep, tagging would definitely be needed considering most of the posterous blogs I've been reading are filled with snaps.

@Garry woah!! The co-founder of posterous himself! Great to see you being involved with the users ;o) Tagging and archiving soon! Sounds a step towards posterity :)

@Andrea - Garry above says tagging's coming. If they've given us so many cool features I don't think that'll be difficult to come by ;o)

@David Yeah, monetization is equally important for posterous to get ahead over time. I hope they provide an option to integrate adsense or may be their own ad network! I haven't seen any mention of revenue for posterous bloggers yet. Lets just hope something good comes by :)

@Andrew you're right. Simplicity of posterous makes it superior than the rest. The designs cool too ;o)

@Nik That was a long answer ;o) Left a comment on the post. Great insights ;o)

@yongji hope you become an active blogger on posterous soon. whats keeping you back?

I'll stay with it! It's the only service that I've really stuck with this long. I think the real hook for any service, though, is how quickly you can make friends on it. I was lucky in that I found people quickly and got stuck on Posterous that way.

But still, email posting is perfect for me too. Email is where I live.

@Luke Nothing like posterous when it comes to ease of use ;o)

@RaeJillian I don't think they'll ever take away somethin like this from you. P.S. if they do then we can do a protest.. umm may be a blog strike (no posting anything till posterous is back :D)

@Pooja posterous is really incredible when it comes to making new friends ;o)

The only thing I really miss is to be able to use my own domain. I can live without themes, tags and other things that most blogging systems have because sometimes less is more.

@Leo Guess what..? I think you can do that!! Register a domain n then go to ur settings page on posterous.... U will see an option to map your new domain!!

I'd like to recieve a new post message from my subscritions or specific friends by email. Because I use a mobile.me account in my iPhone.
I think that Posterous is well use in iPhone's push mail service and want a iPhone UI.

I'll stay for now although I spent the weekend trying to rework my posterous blog into something self hosted. The email feature is great although I need to learn to live with their plain-text to HTML conversion. But email is a great interface.

My blog won't work for more than a month or two without some kind of category or tag feature.

@toshi yeah, receiving new posts of blogs subscribed through email seems like a good thing :)

@Mark as Garry has mentioned in one of the comments to this post.. tagging is coming soon ;o)

I need tags very, very soon or I can't use Posterous, would be very pity ;) . Then I would also stick to this.

To be able to add tags via email you can use a format so that it recognizes these tags in the email, ... eg with: "tags: design, architecture, photography", ... then it generates the tags automaticaly in the blog. Would be great that most used tags appear in the right side of the blog.

Have been loving it since stumbling onto it. The idea of remaining in a single platform while updating several others is great.
